Oregon State Classic

This weekend we raced in the Oregon State Classic.  It was a two part regatta with a morning session followed by a solid lunch break before an afternoon session.

We raced Louisville, Washington, Stanford, Minnesota, and had a dual with Oregon.

In the morning we raced Minnesota and Louisville winning the 1V8, 2V8, and finishing 3rd in the 1V4.  We also raced a 2V4 A, 2V4 B, and 2V4 C against Oregon A and B, sweeping the race.  

In the afternoon everyone lined up across and raced with us taking 4th in the 1V8, 3rd in the 2V8, 5th in the 1V4, and then putting the top two 2V4s into an eight and racing Oregon's V8 heads up.

It was a fairly satisfying weekend of racing.  Louisville is ranked 17th in the country with Washington 8th, and Stanford 5th and Minnesota receiving votes - as are we - so it was a very competitive race.  Knocking off Louisville and Minnesota in the morning and being competitive with two top-10 teams gave the program a boost.  

It was also beneficial racing Oregon, and their 1V8.  I was proud of the athletes pushing hard.  It would have been easy to race down, but they brought their A games and raced hard against Oregon, which respects their opponent, and is a good sign of their mentality - not taking anything for granted.

Thankfully the weather held up Saturday - Friday was not fun with wind and rain - and now I'm looking forward to several days off from competition where we can focus on the boats and building speed.
