Fun(d) raising
I think it's a given that every time a team or organization holds a car wash the weather is going to do something fun. You're either dealing with temperatures so hot that soap is drying on the cars before you can get anything done or it's threatening to down pour.None the less the team had a successful car wash yesterday in down town Lake Oswego and we managed to pull in a fair amount of money despite one person driving off after finding out that it was a fund raising car wash.
The team captains did a great job getting everything organized and with a little shrewd business savvy we were kept busy the entire 4 hours that we were out there.
This photo doesn't really do justice to how busy it was and we were frequently washing and drying about 6 to 8 cars at a time. Despite the small parking lot and chaotic nature of people pulling in and out as well as using the parking lot for a quick short cut to the shopping center they kept everything under control. They even provided free lemonade and bagels to those who drove up, a perk definitely appreciated by the cars coming back from Hood-to-Coast. All in all it was a great way to kick things off getting the returners back together as well as re-establishing our presence in the community. This week continues the fund raising and recruitment kick and fall season begins September 7th.
